The ICR condemns the attacks on the masses that took part in protests in Turkey. These massive protests are ignited by the unacceptable action of the Turkish government against the elected mayors in Istanbul, as a result of which, they were removed from office and arrested. These actions are a direct violation of the right to vote and and the right to get elected.
The imperialist powers of the USA, EU and NATO are determined to use the Turkish government’s authoritarian rule to advance their plans; and thus, are complacent in the violations of rights in the country.
We express our full solidarity with the people of Turkey and TKP, whose members were also attacked. Along with many protesters some members of TKP were arrested, as well. We demand their immediate release and dropping of the charges against them. The right of the Turkish people to free political activity and the right to vote and get elected should be guaranteed firmly.
